Based in Tangent, Oregon, the SafeHaven Humane Society is a nonprofit that strives to find permanent and loving homes for all animals left in its care. The organization also offers a number of programs to support the community’s animals.

One of the programs is the pet food pantry, which helps Linn County residents feed their pets during times of economic hardship. The pantry is open to the public on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. Dog owners are asked to pay one dollar for a bucket, and they are then able to pick up 13 pounds of dog food. Cat owners are given 3.5 pounds of cat food. Currently the organization serves 30 families a month.
